My can of smoked oysters saved a boring Tuesday dinner

I had plain rice and nothing else to go with it, so I dumped a can of smoked oysters right on top. The oil mixed in and made it taste like a fancy seafood pilaf for less than $2. Does anyone else keep a backup can of something weird for emergency meals?

Did you drizzle the oil over the rice or just dump the whole can on there?

Dump it all in cold without stirring, that's the only way to get that crust on the bottom. Letting it sit for a few minutes after you pour it locks in all that flavor. Drizzling just leaves you with greasy rice that tastes like nothing.
