Hit 200 job applications before I got one call back
I counted every application I sent out from January to April, 200 of them, and got exactly one phone screen out of the whole pile. I started tracking them in a spreadsheet after application 50 just to see if I was losing my mind, and the one that worked came from a referral a guy I used to work with passed along. Has anyone else kept a tally like this and figured out what actually moved the needle?
Man, I used to think volume was the whole game and it just isn't. All 200 got you one call while one referral got you in the door, that's the whole lesson right there.
