I asked for 3 days remote and my boss said yes, my output went down and that taught me more than any promotion
I work at a logistics company in Columbus and back in March I asked my manager for 3 remote days a week. He said sure, no problem, and I figured my numbers would hold steady or maybe even go up since no commute means more energy. I tracked my tickets for 8 weeks. I closed 61 cases remote against 78 in the office over the same stretch, and the gap was almost all in the boring stuff like follow up calls and handoffs. I got 9 extra hours of sleep a week and still got less done, which is not the story anyone wants to hear. Now I go in 4 days and treat remote Friday as the day for work that needs quiet, not the day for work that needs people. Before you fight for the schedule, look at the tasks, because the setup isn't the problem. Has anyone else split their week by the type of work instead of the day of the week?
