Realized my resume was 3 pages because I listed every temp job from college
A recruiter at a Denver job fair glanced at it for maybe 10 seconds and asked if I actually did anything at the summer camp gig from 2014. Cut it down to one page that night and got 2 callbacks within a week. Has anyone else had a recruiter flat out tell them their resume was too long?
Getting called out like that in person sounds rough but honestly it sounds like the kick in the pants you needed. Been there with the old college job list, nobody cares that you scooped ice cream in 2011 or worked a week of seasonal retail. Recruiters spend seconds on that first pass so every line has to earn its spot. Mine was two pages for years and trimming it down felt like losing something at first but the callbacks proved the point. Sorry you had to hear it from a stranger at a job fair though, that had to sting a little in the moment.
