I spent $120 on a single session with a career coach in Austin last month after sending out 40 resumes with zero callbacks. She pointed out I was using the same generic summary line as everyone else and showed me how to write one that matched the exact job posting. I redid my resume in one evening and got two interviews within 10 days. The cost stung at first, but I think it paid for itself already. Paying for that one off review was the best money I spent during my whole job hunt. I did a similar thing with a guy who specialized in my field and he caught that my bullet points were all about duties instead of results. He gave me a formula to plug my experience into and it took me like two hours to rewrite everything. Got three callbacks the next week after months of silence. Sometimes you just need someone outside your own head to see what you're missing.
