Blew $200 on a fancy clamp rack system that fell apart after 3 weeks
I saw this cool aluminum clamp rack online and thought it would save me so much space in my shop. Spent 200 bucks on it, installed it on a Saturday morning. By the next Friday, the whole thing sagged and two of the arms snapped off under the weight of just six bar clamps. I called the company and they said I overloaded it. Six clamps is overloaded? I guess that's on me for not reading the fine print. Has anyone else tried those modular rack systems and actually had them hold up?

Buddy of mine bought the same setup from a big box store and his sagged within a week with just four pipe clamps on it. He took it back and the guy at the returns counter said they've seen a ton of those things come back, told him to just get a couple of 2x4s and a drill instead. That was three years ago, his homemade rack's still up and holding his whole clamp collection without a problem.

Didn't it come with a weight limit sticker or anything? Same thing happened to me with a different brand, $150 down the drain after two weeks.

Did you check the box or the manual? I almost threw mine out but luckily I flipped the box over and there it was in tiny print on the bottom. After mine broke I went back to the store and they said the weight limit is usually printed on the side of the box or inside the manual that nobody reads. I started taping those stickers right to the frame so I wouldn't forget again. Also I learned the hard way that you gotta add the weight of any storage bags or baskets you attach to it, that's what got me the first time. Might be worth digging through your recycling if you still have the packaging.
