Spent a whole Saturday trying to fix a miter saw fence that was 1/16th off

I was trimming out a living room in Arlington and kept getting gaps on my 45s, so I busted out my digital angle finder and sure enough the fence was just barely out of square. Took me like 4 hours of fiddling with shims and bolts before I realized one of the aftermarket stop blocks I added was actually the problem. Anybody else ever chase a tiny misalignment way longer than it should have taken?

You ever spend an afternoon cussing out a tool only to find out you're the one who broke it in the first place? I once spent three hours straightening a saw fence that was actually just a sticky piece of packing tape. Fun stuff.

Yeah I feel that in my bones. Last weekend I spent 6 hours helping a friend move furniture for what turned out to be like $40 and a sad pizza. You're working all day, your back hurts, and by the end you're just wondering why you didn't just stay home and watch TV. People always act surprised when you say the pay is bad but that's just how these little gigs go. Have you had one of those jobs that made you question your life choices?
