TIL a simple shop vac attachment can save you from dust cloud misery

Been doing crown molding in a finished basement for the last 3 days. Usually I just let the sawdust fly and sweep it up after. But this homeowner was watching every move and I could tell the dust was getting on her nerves. On a whim I taped a cheap dust collection bag to my miter saw and hooked the shop vac to the port. Night and day difference. Barely any dust on the floor, and I didn't have to stop every 15 minutes to sweep. Why did it take me 12 years to try this? Anyone else have a simple fix they ignored for way too long?

Man, same thing happened to me with my tablesaw. Had this little plastic dust port sitting in the box for like 5 years, thought it was a gimmick. Finally hooked it up when I was doing a bunch of trim in a rental. That little adapter plus a cheap cyclone separator on the shop vac changed everything. Still had to sweep a bit, but it went from a layer of dust everywhere to just a faint sprinkle. Felt real dumb for ignoring it so long, lol.

You read up on that cyclone separator, @paulw53? Worth the setup hassle?
