Visited a reclaimed lumber yard in Portland and saw how they sorted old-growth fir
Watched a guy there pull out a 16-foot beam from a 1920s warehouse and the grain was insane, has anyone else gotten better results mixing old wood with new in a single project?

Grabbed some 1920s Douglas fir from a salvage yard and mixed it with new white oak for a table, turned out amazing.

Oh man, so you took wood from basically when people still thought radium was good for you and mixed it with something that probably came from a home depot clearance rack? That's like putting a vintage leather jacket on a brand new plastic chair. But hey, if the grain matches up and the glue holds, you've got yourself a table that's confused about what century it belongs to. I bet the Douglas fir is screaming "I survived prohibition for THIS?" while the white oak is just happy to be included.
