Was dead set against using a track saw until my framing partner bought one last year
I always figured a circular saw and a straight edge did the same thing for cheaper. But then we had to rip down 20 sheets of 3/4 ply for a built-in in a tight basement stairwell. He handed me his Festool and I made a perfect cut right on the first try with no measuring. After seeing how clean those edges came out, I went home and ordered a Makita knockoff that same night. Anybody else finally cave and buy one after swearing them off for years?

You said you were "dead set against using a track saw" and that's exactly how I was with my whole tool buying approach for years. I used to think paying extra for something just meant you were being fancy, not smarter. But then I noticed this same thing happening in other parts of my life, like with kitchen knives. I always used cheap ones until a buddy let me try his good chef's knife, and suddenly I wasn't fighting with my veggies anymore. It's funny how one good experience with the right tool can totally change your mind about spending money on quality. You ever find yourself holding out on something just because you think you already have a way that works?

The track saw cost more than my first car - what finally pushed you over the edge to buy one?
