TIL you can fix burnt carpet fibers with a butter knife
I was doing a seam repair job last week in a rental house in Phoenix and the tenant had melted a spot with a space heater. My usual trick of just cutting the burnt bits left a bald patch. On a whim I tried scraping the surrounding fibers sideways with a butter knife to cover the spot. It actually blended in pretty good and saved me from having to patch in a new piece. Anyone else got a hack for fixing small burns without replacing the whole section?

That butter knife trick sounds like a temporary cover-up at best though. How long did it actually last before the fibers started looking weird again?

Oh man, I tried that butter knife thing and honestly? It barely held up for like a week before the fibers started looking all frayed and wonky again lol. What actually saved me was just getting a cheap fabric shaver off Amazon for like 10 bucks, works way better.

Fraying happens so fast, but @susansingh is right, butter knives just push fibers back temporarily lol.
