Showerthought: My grandma kept her cash in a coffee can for 40 years, and I just paid for a taco with my phone
My grandma in Youngstown hid her cash in a Folgers can for 40 years and never lost a dime to a hacker or a bank fee. Now I tap my phone for a $3 taco and some company I never met knows I was standing on 5th street at 7pm on a Tuesday. Last month my card got frozen over a $12 charge and it took 3 calls to fix, meanwhile grandma woulda just handed over 12 bucks and walked off. I get the speed and the no more scrambling for exact change at the register. But when 4 apps all know my rent, my meds, and where I buy my socks, that feels like too many people in my wallet. Anyone here actually gone back to mostly cash after trying the phone thing for a year or two?
