Kept my grocery bill at $47 a week for 8 weeks straight, did I cheat by eating the same 5 dinners?
Half of me says repeat meals are the whole trick to eating cheap, but the other half misses variety and wonders if I'm just being lazy. Where do you all land on rotating the same cheap dinners vs forcing yourself to cook something new?
repeat meals are the whole trick" is pretty much what my buddy swears by too. He did the same 4 dinners every week for like 3 months and saved a ton, but around week 10 he started dreading dinner time so bad he'd just snack instead of cooking. What worked for him was keeping 3 meals on lock and then swapping in one new cheap recipe every other week, so it never felt like a punishment. You're not lazy for repeating stuff, thats just how a budget works, but if you start skipping meals or ordering out because you're bored, the savings go out the window anyway. Feels like variety is less about the food and more about not burning out on the whole routine.
