Hit 500 cleanings and finally stopped second-guessing my brush choice
I checked my log book this morning and realized I've done 500 flue cleanings since I started in 2013. That made me think about how I used to switch wire brushes every few jobs, but around job 150 I settled on a rigid poly head and haven't looked back. Am I the only one who sticks with one setup after a certain point, or do you keep experimenting?

You ever get so used to something you forget why you picked it in the first place? I had this old putty knife I used for scraping creosote off the firebox walls, carried it in my back pocket for like two years. One day I dropped it down a chimney and just stared at the hole for five minutes before I even thought about grabbing a new one from the truck. Went through three different brands after that and none of them felt right, so I ended up buying the exact same one online for eight bucks. Sometimes your hands just know before your brain does, I guess.

Ain't that the truth, my old hammer feels like an extension of my arm and I can't even remember where I got it.
