Roommate split vs solo studio, I picked wrong and now I'm broke

Moved to Austin 8 months ago and had to choose between sharing a 2BR with a stranger for $850 or a tiny studio for $1,400. I went with the roommate to save cash, but he plays drums at 2am and I've eaten $300 in takeout just to avoid the kitchen. Anyone else regret picking the cheaper option and now wondering if the extra rent would've been worth your sanity?
