Found a working Palm Pilot at a garage sale for $5
I was digging through a pile of old chargers at a thrift spot in Austin last Saturday and spotted a Palm Pilot Vx buried under some phone cases. The guy running it said he'd thrown it in for free with a cable lot, but it still turned on and had a game of Solitaire from 2004 saved on it. Anyone else still keeping one of these around for the novelty, or did I just waste my $5?

$5 for a working Palm Pilot with someone's decade-old Solitaire save file is basically a time capsule deal. Just make sure the guy didn't charge you extra for the graveyard of dead AAAs underneath it (you know, the ones from 2004). At least now you have a backup if your smartphone ever breaks and you need to angrily tap a tiny screen to organize your contacts by their landline numbers. Honestly, I'd frame it next to an original iPod and call it a museum of things we used to find charming before touchscreens took over.

@michael_green44 is right, you basically bought a tiny time machine for the price of a burrito.

lol @mianelson nailed it, that save file is the real gold. I found a Handspring Visor at a flea market last year with some dude's entire college schedule still on it from like 2002. I kept it plugged in for a week just to feel something nostalgic while I scrolled through his Tuesday 10am English Lit reminder. Definitely not a waste of five bucks, especially compared to what people pay for old video games now. I still pull mine out sometimes just to write a note with that stylus and pretend I'm in a tech commercial from before smartphones existed.
