That week my Motorola StarTAC came back to life after 15 years in a drawer
I was cleaning out my garage last month after a big storm flooded the corner. Found my old Motorola StarTAC from 1998 buried under a stack of towels. Figured it was toast but I threw it on the charger for a laugh. Two days later the green light came on and after a full charge it actually powered up. The screen was dim but readable and I could still scroll through contacts I hadn't thought about in ages. Called my buddy Mike from back then and he couldnt believe it was the same phone number I had in high school. The battery died after 20 minutes but for that brief time it was like 1999 all over again. Has anyone else pulled a phone out of storage and been surprised it still worked?

I mean, 20 minutes of battery life is basically a full day in 1999 if you think about it. Back then we were lucky if our phones lasted through a single conversation without needing to be plugged into the car charger. The fact that you even found a charger is impressive honestly, those things were like trying to find a working payphone at this point. And calling your buddy Mike and him picking up? That's either the universe aligning or proof that some people never change their number because they're too lazy to update their voicemail greeting.
