Our street lost 14 trees in a year, the heat difference is brutal

I live off of 82nd Ave in Portland and last summer the city cut down a row of dying ash trees on our block, 14 total. This summer the asphalt hits 110 degrees by 2pm and my AC runs nonstop, my bill went up $45 a month. Before they were gone we barely needed fans until August, now the bedroom is stuffy by June. Has anyone else seen a neighborhood change like this after tree removal? I'm trying to get the city to plant replacements but they say funding is froze.

Have you looked into whether the city has a heat vulnerability map or a tree equity program they’re supposed to follow? Funding being froze sounds like an excuse when they’ve got grants for canopy cover in low income areas. What did they actually say when you asked about the 110 degree asphalt temps, did they offer any solution or just shrug?
