Shoutout to the tool crib guy in Dayton who taught me to read a tap chart by hand
I always just punched the numbers into the app on my phone and went with it. He pulled out a laminated tap drill chart from 1987 and showed me how a 1/4-20 needs a #7 drill, but the app kept telling me 5.1mm and I was snapping taps left and right. Turns out the app rounds and my holes were 3 thousandths too tight. Anybody else got a chart hanging on the wall they actually trust more than the phone?
