My espresso machine pressure gauge blew out mid-pull this morning

I was pulling my first shot of the day on my Gaggia Classic and the pressure gauge needle just dropped to zero with a loud hiss. Had to tear it apart to find a busted plastic fitting inside, anyone else had these fail on them?

Had the same damn thing happen on my Rancilio Silvia last year. Plastic fitting blew out mid-shot and coffee went everywhere.

I saw a buddy's Gaggia do the same thing at his place a few months ago. He stepped away for just a second and came back to a brown puddle all over his counter and floor. That little plastic piece is the one part that should really be metal from the factory.

Plastic fitting blew out mid-shot" - man, that's exactly how mine went too. It's like manufacturers just assume the cheap plastic will hold up forever. In my experience, this is the same pattern you see everywhere now - that one weak point in an otherwise solid machine that they know will fail eventually. Your mileage may vary but I've noticed it in appliances, cars, tools... they all have that one part that seems designed to break just to make you buy a whole new thing instead of fixing it.
