The day I stopped bagging my pulls in alphabetical order

For like 15 years I sorted every Wednesday's comic haul by title, A to Z, before even reading them. Took me 45 minutes each week just to get them in order. Then last month at my LCS in Austin, a guy saw my stack and goes 'you're wasting the best part of pulling day.' I tried just reading them in whatever order they came out of the bag. Honestly, I actually remember the stories better now and I'm done in 20 minutes. Has anyone else changed a weird little ritual like that after years of doing it the same way?

Twenty bucks says my old system was worse, I used to separate by publisher first (DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse) and THEN alphabetically, so it was basically a whole evening thing. Honestly, I think the ritual gave me a little dopamine hit of control before the chaos of reading, you know? Now I just grab em like a wild animal and I actually finish my stack before bedtime instead of midnight.

Hell yeah, it's like we're all just shedding little control rituals as we get older.

Catch myself arranging my paint chips by color family before I even start a job, then I just grab one and mix it by feel anyway. Total waste of a perfectly good system.
