Went to a con in Portland with zero expectations, left a changed collector
My buddy dragged me to Rose City Comic Con last month, and I figured I'd just walk the floor for an hour. Instead I spent 3 hours at the back issue bins and found a near-mint '89 Punisher #10 for $12, which is a steal when the usual dealer wants $40. The real kicker was meeting a fan artist who does ink washes of villains only, and she pointed out how much detail I was missing in my own reading. Has anyone else had a con experience that made them rethink how they look at their pulls?
Damn, that's the kind of con magic people chase for years. Honestly, finding a key book under $15 these days feels like winning the lottery, but the artist part hits harder. Sometimes we get so stuck on grades and values we forget the actual art itself. A fresh pair of eyes on the page can flip the whole story on its head. That's the real score right there.
