Pro tip: Drove past the old jetty at Port Fourchon last weekend and noticed every diver was running Kirby Morgan bands instead of neck dams
One guy showed me his smashed up neck dam with a cracked seal and asked if I still thought the neck dam was worth the extra hassle, so now I'm switching over - anyone else make that swap?

Buddy of mine used neck dams for years down in Grand Isle. Took one bad hit where the seal popped loose on a wreck at 80 feet and he said it was like someone turned a garden hose into his hood. Switched to KM bands the next week and hasn't looked back. Claims he can actually hear himself think now without water sloshing around his ears.

like someone turned a garden hose into his hood" - man, that's exactly what I'm scared of with those neck dams. Did your buddy have any trouble with the KM bands trapping air or getting them seated right the first few tries? I've heard some folks say they can be finicky until you get the angle perfect.

Honestly my buddy down in Venice had the same issue with neck dams. Took a header into some current around a rig and that seal just gave up. Said water hit his face so fast he thought his mask got ripped off. Swapped to the KM bands and said the first couple dives he had to really mess with the angle to get them to sit right without trapping air. After that though he said it was night and day difference, no more surprises.
