Jumped right into that one thinking you were gonna talk about some normal waves and then you hit me with dead calm by Thursday. Hold on, four footers on Monday and then nothing just a few days later? That doesn't even sound real. Were you guys out there on glass or what cause I can't wrap my head around that kind of change. That Gulf water must have been like a mirror by the end of the week.

Oh man @adams.uma, you're NOT kidding about the Gulf acting crazy like that. I had a trip last summer where we went from six foot swell one day to flat calm the next, and I swear I thought my buddy's wave report app was broken. It's like the ocean just hits a switch and all that energy disappears into glassy nothing.

And @annajenkins is right, that switch is crazy. I had a trip to the Outer Banks a couple years ago where we got three straight days of waist high clean waves and then a tropical storm way out in the Atlantic just vanished. The ocean went from this nice messy chop to total stillness by the afternoon, like someone pulled the plug. We sat on the beach watching pelicans just sit there on the water not even bobbing. I swear I could see my own face in the surface. Ever had that kind of dead flat where it feels like the ocean is holding its breath?
