Found a hidden boot menu trick that fixed a bricked Dell in 10 minutes

Had a Dell Optiplex 7060 that wouldn't post after a BIOS update. No display, no beeps, just dead. I tried the usual power drain, CMOS battery pull, even held the power button for 30 seconds. Nothing worked. Then an old forum post said hold Ctrl + Esc while plugging in the power cord. It booted straight into BIOS recovery on the first try. Has anyone else found a weird key combo that saved their ass on a specific model?

oh man that ctrl+esc trick is wild, I’ve never heard that one before. i had a similar nightmare with an old Lenovo T530 that wouldn’t even light up, tried everything until someone told me to hold down the "novo" button while plugging in the charger, and it finally kicked into recovery mode. these hidden key combos feel like secret handshakes for each specific model, you just have to pray you stumble on the right one.

no way, for real? that novo button trick sounds insane, i'd have never thought of that @fiona_kim. beats smashing the power button and hoping for a miracle.

Nah, I just chuck it out and buy a new one at that point. Not worth the headache.
