Big slab job got tense with boss over our shoulders
We were finishing a large foundation slab, and the supervisor wouldn't leave us alone. He kept pointing out minor things while we were trying to get the cream right. This got the whole team jumpy and we almost ruined the finish. I'm trying to figure out how to handle this without causing trouble. Has anyone dealt with this before?

I saw a thing online about how micromanaging can drop crew output by like 20%. Tbh, it makes sense because everyone gets stressed and messes up simple stuff. Kinda what @the_ben said, bosses need to trust the process more.

Ugh that is the WORST. Had a foreman once who would literally tap his boot by the edge while we were trying to edge a curb detail. Made everyone so nervous we screwed up the line. It's like they don't get that hovering MAKES the mistakes. My guy brought a laser level out once, right when we were hitting the final trowel. Left swirl marks everywhere trying to work around him.

But is it really the hovering that causes the mistakes, or is it just an excuse for sloppy work? A good crew should be able to focus with someone watching. Maybe the foreman was just checking the work because he's seen that line get messed up before. Sometimes bosses have a reason to be there.
