I finally saw the difference between a bull float and a magnesium float after 6 years of doing slabs
On a driveway job in Holland last spring I used a bull float on the first half and a mag on the second half, and the texture difference was so obvious 30 minutes later that I had to strip and redo the bull floated side - who else thinks bull floats are only good for getting the basic surface down before switching tools?

So you're saying I need to buy ANOTHER tool?

In a similar spot a while back, I picked up a cheap used multitool off Craigslist for 20 bucks. It worked fine for the basics and let me figure out if I actually needed the expensive version. Might be worth checking local listings or a pawn shop before dropping cash on something new.

Exactly, that's the standard answer to any problem. Buy another tool to solve the tool problem, it always works out. Did the same thing last year with a used dremel and a bent screwdriver, no regrets.
