Watched a driveway in Tulsa go from smooth to a spiderweb in under a year
The homeowner used a cheap bag mix from a big box store and didn't put down any vapor barrier over the clay soil. We got a ton of rain last spring, and the slab just sucked up all that moisture from below. Now it's a full grid of shrinkage cracks, every 18 inches like clockwork. What's the worst subgrade failure you've seen from skipping that plastic sheet?

Saw that too, @claire_grant34. Plastic's cheap, a new slab is not.

Plastic sheeting can be overkill sometimes. A well compacted gravel base does the same job in a lot of places.
