My concrete pump blew a hose mid pour and I had 40 yards setting up on me
Last Tuesday we were pouring a 60 yard foundation in Nashville and about 25 yards in, the hose on the pump snapped and slurry went everywhere. I had maybe 20 minutes before that concrete started to set, so I called the ready mix plant and told them to send two extra trucks while my guys built a ramp out of scrap plywood to keep the mud moving. We lost about 6 yards to the ground and had to rent a jackhammer the next morning to chip out the cold joint. The foreman was not happy but we saved the pour, and now I keep a spare hose and two clamps on site no matter what the pump company says. Has anyone else had a pump fail mid pour, and what is your backup plan when that happens?
