Spent $500 on a laser level setup and it paid for itself in one week

I used to do all my rough framing with a string line and a 4 foot level. Took forever on this big apartment complex in Austin. Finally broke down and got a green rotating laser with a receiver. Set up time went from 20 minutes per wall to about 3. First week alone I saved like 30 hours of labor. Has anyone else had that moment where you finally buy the fancy tool and wonder why you waited so long?

Bought a green rotary with a self leveling tripod last year for a basement remodel. That first time you set it up and shoot a perfectly level line around the whole room in 30 seconds is wild. String lines are fine for small jobs but on anything bigger than a single room the labor savings adds up fast. Just don't forget to zero it out every morning before you trust it on a layout. Had a buddy run crown molding 1/4 inch off because he skipped that check.

Ngl I bought one of those green rotary lasers too and the first thing I did was set it up in my living room and just walk around staring at the level line like a moron for ten minutes. My wife thought I was having a stroke. But yeah, that zero check thing is brutal to learn the hard way - I forgot once and ended up cutting a door frame that was slightly tilted like a funhouse mirror. String lines are fine but there's something about watching that laser spin around a whole space that makes you feel like a wizard even if you're just a dude with a tape measure.
