Creepy quiet job site in Everett, police showed up 15 min later
Was doing a bid on a vacant commercial lot near the Everett waterfront last Tuesday around 7am. Noticed the back door of the old cannery was chained from the outside but the padlock was just sitting open on the ground. Took a pic and called the property manager, she had no idea anyone was supposed to be there. Everett PD rolled up before I even finished my measurements, turned out two scrappers had been stripping copper wire all week. Anyone else ever stumble onto stuff like this before you start work?
That lock story got me thinking about all the times Ive found stuff like that before a job starts. Last spring I found a brand new extension cord still in the package behind a dumpster at a site in Lynnwood. Nobody ever claimed it, so I just left it there. The police showing up that quick is wild though, usually its the opposite. Ive had property managers shrug off stuff like that and say theyll deal with it later, then nothing ever happens. Half the time the scrappers are back the next week stripping whatever they missed.
