A stylist at the salon said 'balayage is just a lazy technique' and I've been thinking about it all week.

I think that view misses how much skill it takes to get a soft, natural blend free of harsh lines, which I saw a master colorist achieve on a client with 4 inches of regrowth just last Thursday.

I mean, that reminds me of a barber who said fades were just for people who couldn't do a proper scissor cut. But I watched my guy spend 45 minutes just on the blend with his clippers, checking every angle. It's a whole different kind of skill, idk.

Totally get that. A good fade takes insane attention to detail and a steady hand. It's a real craft all on its own.

Remember that barber shop argument about clippers vs scissors? @kai_webb91's story proves it's just two different ways to be good at your job. Some people get way too hung up on ranking skills that are just different.
