Bleach burn went bad on a client at 4pm yesterday
I was doing a full head of highlights at my station in Salon Lofts Nashville. Client had box dye from 3 months ago that she didn't tell me about. Her scalp started turning red about 10 min in and I rinsed immediately with cool water and low ph shampoo. Put on a soothing protein treatment for 20 min. She was pissed but I comped the service and gave her a free conditioning treatment card. Now I'm paranoid about every new client. Anyone else deal with hidden box dye surprises?

Always the culprit" - yeah, that pretty much sums it up for me too. I have seen so many people in these hair groups swear by mixing and it just never ends well. You think you're getting a custom shade or saving money, but really you're just asking for a disaster. I tried it once years ago and my hair turned this weird orangey-brown mess that took forever to fix. Box dye is definitely another big troublemaker, but mixing different brands together is like playing roulette with your hair. You never know what kind of chemical reaction you're going to get.
