Spent $400 on a wireless load indicator and I'm not sure it was worth it

Been running without one for 8 years and never had an issue. But after almost swinging a load into a power line last month, I got nervous and bought one. The thing beeps at me for every little sway now and I swear it's more distracting than helpful. Has anyone else found these things to be more hassle than they're worth?

The beeping every time the wind blows would drive me nuts too. Those things are designed to keep you safe but they definitely can make you jumpy. I borrowed one once and it went off just from the rope rubbing against the strap, not even any real tension on the load. Real talk though, the near miss with the power line is exactly the kind of thing that'll make you second guess running without one forever. Maybe try turning the sensitivity down if yours has that option, or just stick with it until you get used to the noises. Better a beepy nuisance than a crispy truck.

Man dude tell me about it. I had the SAME problem with a borrowed lanyard, thing chirped at me every time I took a step. What FINALLY worked for me was just using a different type of strap material. I swapped that bouncy elastic kind for a flat nylon webbing one and the false alarms almost completely stopped. The elastic ones seem to pick up every little vibration and it drove me crazy. Also, I read the manual (I know, boring) and found out the sensor has to be mounted at a specific angle on the strap. Mine was all twisted and that was causing the issue. Once I squared it away flat against my chest it cut the nonsense beeps by like 80 percent. Anyway, your point about the power line is the REAL story here. That scare is worth a thousand beeps.

That beeping would probably make me jump so bad I'd swing the load into something just from getting startled, guess that's the opposite of safety equipment.
