DAE get better ideas from a random word generator than from actual prompt lists?
I was stuck for a story last week, so I tried a site called 'Random Word Generator' instead of my usual prompt books. I set it to give me three words: 'lighthouse', 'brass', and 'regret'. That combo sparked a whole mystery plot about a keeper hiding a secret, which I wrote 2,000 words on in one sitting. My usual themed prompts never click that fast. Maybe the lack of a set theme forces more original connections? Has a weird method like this ever worked better for you than the standard stuff?

Totally get that. I once pulled "moss," "key," and "whisper" from a generator and wrote a whole fantasy short. The weird combos make my brain work harder than a normal prompt.

Forcing creativity with random words, like Logan561 said, just sounds like a crutch for bad ideas.

Right? Those random words force you to get creative. It's like a puzzle for your brain.
