I spent $80 on a 'premium' writing prompt generator that just recycles the same five ideas.

Is it better to invest in tools that promise to spark creativity, or should we just stick to the classic method of staring at a wall until an idea hits?

That reminds me of a friend who bought a fancy "idea jar" full of prompts. He shook it for a week and kept pulling out "write about a haunted toaster." Sometimes the old ways are best, like just taking a long walk without your phone.

Totally! My brain works best on walks.

Wait, isn't the staring at a wall thing just another tool, though? I mean, it's a free one. For me, the best ideas come from mixing it up. I'll do the wall stare for a bit, but if that fails I have to change my setting completely, like @phoenix_bailey said about walks. I tried one of those prompt apps and it was so generic. It kept saying "a mysterious door appears" and I'm like, okay, but why? The wall stare at least forces my own weird brain to fill in the blank.
