My credit score dropped 50 points because of a $0.38 balance I forgot about

I paid off my credit card entirely except for one tiny purchase I made at a gas station in Tulsa. That $0.38 carried over to the next statement and made my balance look like I was carrying debt. The bank reported it as a missed full payment and my score tanked. Took me three calls and a month to get them to fix it. Has anyone else gotten hit by these tiny interest or fee charges that mess up your utilization?

Oh come on, people are way too quick to blame the banks for everything here. @taraross you're making it sound like this was some kind of evil plot but honestly this is your own fault. You knew the balance was there. You chose to ignore it. A $0.38 charge isn't some hidden fee it's a purchase YOU made. The bank is just reporting what's in their system. They're not your mom. If you LET a balance sit there and carry over that's on you for not paying attention. I've had this happen before and I just paid the 38 cents and moved on. My score recovered in like two months. People act like a 50 point drop is the end of the world but it's not. Next time set up autopay or check your statement before complaining.

Right, it's just 38 cents. People need thicker skin about credit scores.

Call and complain until they fix it. That's super frustrating.
