The 15 minute rule that fixed my dad joke delivery

I kept bombing jokes in the court thread, so I started testing each one on my wife before posting. But she laughed at everything, which messed up my judgement. Then I tried waiting 15 minutes after writing a joke and reading it out loud in my kitchen to nobody. If I still chuckled at the punchline after that pause, it passed. Has anyone else found a better filter for what the community actually votes on?
