I finally got a company to delete my old data after I found a weird trick in their own privacy portal.

Honestly, that trick is a good start, but it doesn't always mean the data is fully gone from their backups. I've had to follow up with a direct email to their privacy team to get real confirmation. It feels like a win, but you have to stay on them.
