That $12 data broker opt-out didn't do what I thought it would

Saw a thread hyping up those paid removal services, so I dropped $12 on one for my info last month, but my spam calls and targeted ads actually got worse. Has anyone else tried the manual opt-out route through each broker's site and compared the results after 30 days?
