Had to choose between the guy who seemed perfect on paper and the one who was a walking red flag
I matched with two guys last month. One was a 32 year old accountant who had a stable job, a dog, and seemed super normal. The other guy was covered in face tattoos but genuinely made me laugh with his dumb jokes. I went with the accountant because I thought I was being smart. We went to a nice Italian place downtown and he spent the whole night arguing with the waiter about the wine list, then asked me to split the bill for his $78 bottle. Has anyone else found that picking the "safe" option backfired in a crazy way?

Honestly, did you read that study about how people who seem "safe" are sometimes hiding bigger red flags because they know how to play the game? I saw something online about how the accountant types can be super controlling because they're used to being in charge of everything. Your guy arguing with the waiter and then making you pay for his bottle is a perfect example. Meanwhile, the face tattoo guy probably would've been a ride or die. It's like the universe is messing with us, making the fun ones look dangerous and the boring ones look safe.

OH MAN that study hit me right in the gut because I literally had an ex who was a "responsible" project manager and he would passive-aggressively track my spending with spreadsheets while acting like he was just being helpful. Meanwhile my friend dated this guy with full sleeve tattoos who worked at a skate shop and he showed up with flowers every week and never once raised his voice. It's like the universe is playing some sick joke where the boring ones hide their crazy behind a nice haircut and the wild ones just happen to be decent humans.

wait hold on, he made you PAY for his bottle? like the one he was drinking? after he argued with the waiter? that's actually insane. i thought you meant he just bought his bottle and you were covering the food or something. but no, he literally made you foot the bill for his own temper tantrum. that's not just a red flag that's a whole carnival of red flags. the spreadsheets thing is wild too but at least that's just weird not straight up disrespectful lol
