I finally agreed to a video call before meeting and it saved me a trip to Tacoma
Matched with a guy who seemed great, but he was weird about sending a normal selfie... kept saying his phone camera was broken. I was ready to drive 45 minutes to meet him for coffee, but my friend convinced me to insist on a quick FaceTime first. When we finally video called, he was clearly using a 10 year old photo and his whole vibe was off. Anyone else had a video call reveal something that made you cancel a date?

Drove my old pickup for 15 years with no major issues. Finally traded it in last spring, and three weeks later the new owner called me about the transmission going out. Felt bad for them but real glad it wasn't me stuck on the side of the highway with a tow bill.

Three weeks later that guy called you? That's wild. I'd be terrified to pick up the phone if I were you. Transmission going out that fast after a sale is brutal though, like the car was just waiting to unload that problem on somebody else. At least you didn't get stuck with that repair bill, those can run you a couple grand easy.

Same thing happened with my old Honda. It was rattling a bit but I figured it had another year in it. Sold it to a kid down the street, and two weeks later the alternator went. Cost him like 400 bucks at a shop. I felt pretty bad but my buddy pointed out I'd been honest about the mileage and he test drove it himself. Now I trade in around the 100k mark no matter what, saves me the guilt.
