Walked into a co-working space in Corktown and the internet was trash
I went to check out that new spot on Michigan Ave last Thursday to get some work done. They advertised fiber but I was getting 15 Mbps down at 2pm. Three people on video calls and the whole place slowed to a crawl. If you run a biz out of these spots, have you actually tested your connection at peak times?

@amy_west must have too much time on her hands worrying about that.

Went through the same thing at a spot on Gratiot last month. I started asking the staff for a speed test at 3pm before committing to a day pass. Helped me avoid wasting time on bad Wi-Fi when I needed to upload big files.

Most people just ask about the advertised speed instead of testing at 3pm on a Tuesday, and that's where they get burned. Did the staff at that Gratiot spot actually let you run a speed test before you paid, or did they give you some runaround about it? I've found that the places with bad wifi usually get defensive when you ask to check the connection during busy hours. The owners are probably paying for a residential plan and expecting it to handle ten laptops at once, which is just crazy. Were the people at the counter at least honest about the speeds when you pushed them on it?
