That time I ignored a coolant leak on I-80 outside Omaha

I was rolling through Nebraska last Tuesday and saw the temp gauge climb past 230, figured I'd top it off at the next stop. By the time I pulled into a Love's, the water pump had seized up and threw the belt. Any of y'all ever get away with patching a leaky rad hose on the road instead of replacing it right away?

Yeah duct tape and a prayer bought me thirty miles once.

Duct tape and prayer is basically the official combo of any car over 200k miles. That fix has gotten me to the parts store more times than I want to count.

Hold up though - duct tape is great for a lot of things but it's not great with hot coolant under pressure. Grab some self-fusing silicone tape from the auto parts store instead, it actually bonds to itself and holds up to the heat way better than the regular gray stuff. That work on your water pump or just a simple hose patch?
