Vent: My diesel's rough idle had me stumped. Cleaned the MAP sensor with some brake cleaner and it smoothed right out. Ever had a simple fix like that?

Hold up, you used brake cleaner on a sensor? I've always heard that stuff can wreck the delicate parts inside.

Whoa, good looking out, but there's actually a specific kind made for this. They make sensor-safe brake cleaner that doesn't leave any residue... it's the regular stuff that melts plastic and rubber you gotta avoid. So you're totally right about the standard kind wrecking things. The safe version is a lifesaver when you're trying to clean off gunk without ruining the sensor.

Read the cleaner label closely, @juliarodriguez. Some sensor-safe stuff still has chemicals that can mess with certain coatings over time. I've seen sensors fail after a few uses because of that.
