Vent: A client in Lisbon said my video calls looked like a hostage situation

I was working from a cheap apartment in Porto last month, and the main window was behind me, making my face a dark shadow on calls. A client, Maria, finally told me it was hard to focus because I looked like I was in a witness protection program. I bought a cheap ring light for 35 euros and now always face a window or use it, even if it means moving my whole setup. Has anyone else had to fix a simple thing that made a big difference to how professional you look online?

PSA: I had to pick between learning Python or sticking with my old Excel sheets for work reports

My boss in Austin gave me a choice last month: either start using an AI tool for our weekly sales data, or keep doing it manually (which took about 8 hours). I chose to learn the basics of Python to run the AI script myself. It was rough for two weeks, but now the report takes 20 minutes. I found that stat in a UN report last night and it really hit me. That's a massive shift from rural to urban living in just a few decades. How do you think that changes things like food supply, traffic, or even how we define community? Seems like a recipe for a lot of new problems we haven't even thought of yet.

Had a total panel lockout on a job in Tempe yesterday

Was finishing a retrofit in a small office, and the main control panel just froze up, no keypad response at all. I pulled the transformer plug for a full minute, but it stayed dead. Ended up finding a tiny jumper wire from the old system that was still shorting the data bus. Cut it out, powered back on, and everything came up clean. Anyone run into a ghost short like that before?

The Cedar Bluff excavation has me split on digging up artifacts versus saving the land

I helped out at the Cedar Bluff site last month where we uncovered old stone tools. One side says we must dig to save history before it's lost. The other side points out how the process can ruin plant life and leave garbage behind. I noticed broken ground and litter that really bothered me. How do you all see this balance?
