The moment I realized my color profiles were all wrong for 6 months straight

This week I finally compared my art on my calibrated monitor vs a friend's phone and the purple I thought I was using was actually bright pink. Has anyone else had a rude awakening about how off their colors were the whole time?

Honestly, "rude awakening" seems a bit dramatic for some color calibration issues. Like, okay, your purple is actually pink. Is that really ruining your life or your art? You probably still made cool stuff even if the colors were off. I get that it matters for prints or whatever but for digital art it's not the end of the world. Most people are viewing your work on uncalibrated phone screens anyway so the whole thing is kinda pointless. Maybe just relax and enjoy making stuff instead of obsessing over the exact shade of purple.

Kim’s got a point that phone screens are a mess but so is acting like a slight color shift is some kind of artistic betrayal lol. I guess for people like Jamie who actually print stuff it’s a real “purple is now pink” nightmare. At the end of the day if it doesn’t bother you then great, but let us dramatic folks have our color calibration meltdowns in peace.

Yeah I get what you're saying @kimfisher but for me it was kind of a big deal... I spent weeks on a piece once and when I finally printed it the whole mood was just gone, like completely different than what I had on my screen. It's not about the exact shade of purple, it's more about the overall vibe shifting in a way you didn't plan for. I started calibrating my monitor after that and honestly it just made things less stressful for me, knowing what I was actually making. Everyone's different though, what works for me might not matter to you.
