It's the modern version of paying for a movie ticket. You're just buying access to the show you want to see.

Totally get that spy feeling, @kevin974. Last month I paid for one just to watch some old sports highlights that were geo-blocked. Sat there in the dark with my laptop feeling like Jason Bourne, but I was just watching a baseball game from 1998. Felt cool and pretty silly at the same time.
