TIL my barber thinks my business website is confusing

He said, 'I tried to book a lawn aeration last fall but got lost on your site and just called someone else.' Has anyone else gotten blunt feedback from a totally random person that actually helped?

Oh man, that's the best kind of feedback because it's so honest. They have zero reason to be nice about it, they just hit you with the real problem. Like if a neighbor says they couldn't find your phone number on your site, that means your contact info is buried. Or if your own mom gets confused trying to buy something from you, your checkout process is probably too complicated. It cuts right through all the assumptions you make about your own stuff.

My grandma still calls me to ask how to reply to an email. If she gets confused by my website, that might say more about her tech skills than my design. Sometimes people just miss things that are right in front of them, like the big blue "contact" button at the top of every page. Not every piece of feedback is a deep flaw.

Yeah, that's so true. But I'd push back a little on what @smith.nancy said about it being the "best" kind. That random feedback is super helpful, but it can also be the most frustrating because you missed something obvious. Like when a delivery guy points out your house numbers are faded, you just feel like an idiot for not seeing it. It's useful because it's honest, but it stings because it's simple.
