Trying to go green with our PPC ads led to a weird customer service mix-up

I launched a pay-per-click campaign highlighting our company's new recycled packaging. One ad accidentally linked to a page about industrial composting instead of our product. We started getting calls from farmers wanting bulk compost, and I had to explain the mix-up while keeping the eco-friendly message intact.

That's such a classic mix-up, gotta love when ads take on a life of their own. Sounds like you handled it way better than I would have! Ever think about running a separate compost campaign now?

Used to see ad mistakes as pure fails (total waste of clicks, you know?). But your compost call story shows it can actually point to a need you didn't see. Maybe those farmers are an audience that would care about your actual green products too. Kind of a happy accident that reframes who might be listening.

Seriously, I would have totally called those wrong-number leads a waste of time before. Like if someone called my old shop asking for tires when we sold bikes, I'd just brush it off. But hearing about the compost call and your take on it, that's different. It's like the mistake cuts through the noise and shows you who's really paying attention, even if they're looking for something else. Maybe my bike shop should have asked the tire guy if he ever needed a cargo bike for hauling stuff.

Honestly, ever get a call from someone who read your ad wrong? Ngl, I once had a guy ask about tree planting after we messed up a flyer for garden tools. Kinda showed me how people see what they need, not what you're selling.
